What You’ll Do
Middle School Math Teacher (Veritas Preparatory Charter School; Springfield, MA): The Middle School Math Teacher at Veritas Prep will plan and teach engaging math lessons through meaningful contexts, working with the Special Education co-teacher to ensure that every student has the knowledge, skills, and support to access grade-level standards and work. They will help students gain the fundamental math and problem-solving skills they need to prepare for higher level math in high school, college, and beyond and partner with the co-teacher, colleagues, and grade-level team to build a strong community where students feel safe, seen, included, and able to reach their goals. Specific duties include: Build knowledge in your content area and be prepared for every class with high-quality, effective lessons. Hold students to high expectations and provide relentless support to help them get there. Be an active participant in data and content meetings with other Math Teachers in the building to improve the quality of instructional materials. Learn and use school-wide routines that help our school run smoothly and keep the focus on teaching and learning. Use data to make decisions and to support the growth of our students in the classroom and during daily tutoring/interventions.Teach students valuable academic habits and social-emotional skills, and embed this skill-building into your lessons and daily interactions. Build deep relationships and actively partner and communicate with parents and families. Engage in learning about racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and be a champion for anti-racist education. Actively engage in professional development and coaching to continually improve your practice. Must have passing score on the Mathematics (Middle School) or Math/Science (Middle School) MTEL, or eligibility for a MA teaching license in Mathematics (Middle School) or Middle School Math/Science within 1 year.
Minimum requirements : Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field.
Must have: Strong mathematical knowledge. An unwavering belief that all students can achieve amazing things. A passion for continuous growth as an educator. Ability to prioritize students. Demonstrate a growth mindset and thrive in teamwork and collaboration.
