The Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is building industry-leading multimodal systems that will transform how customers interact with AI. We are seeking an SDE II with machine learning expertise to build and scale the data foundation that powers our multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs).

In this role, you will develop the data strategies, infrastructure and systems that directly impact millions of customers through products leveraging vision and language technology. You will work with Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate multimodal LLM development and advance Generative AI capabilities like image and video generation

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for multimodal LLM training
  • Define and implement strategies for data enrichment, synthesis, and ablation testing
  • Drive system architecture decisions and establish engineering best practices
  • Partner with ML scientists to advance state-of-the-art multimodal capabilities
  • Own the technical roadmap for data foundation systems that enable high-quality model development

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Experience designing and building scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for multimodal LLM training

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
