Job Description
Join our growing Dermatology practice located in the Houston-Katy area as a full-time Certified Dermatology Medical Assistant. Previous experience in a fast-paced office setting is required, with a preference for Dermatology expertise, specifically assisting providers who handle a minimum of 25 patients daily.
Responsibilities:
• Rooming patients, obtaining chief complaints and history, assisting with procedures, and scribing/documenting an EMR system
• Assisting in suture removals, wound cultures, and basic wound care management
• Concise/clear explanation of treatment recommendations and follow-up plans to the patient
• Discuss and recommend skin care products and explain elective cosmetic procedures
• Assisting with inventory management
• Familiar with basic Dermatology medications, including administering Biologic injections
Qualifications:
• 1- 2 years of recent Medical Assistant experience in private practice
• Proven track record of providing above-average customer service and patient care
• Punctual, detail-oriented , open to receiving feedback, and open to growing • Dermatology experience preferred
• You must be self-motivated and have an internal desire to learn. This means when you don't know something, you will put in the work to understand it. You will be asked to provide examples of how you have done this in previous jobs
• Understanding of the insurance/prescription process, including pre-authorizations, verification, and the ability to explain insurance benefits to a patient. (Experience working with specialty pharmacies is a plus, but not required.)
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to use correct spelling and punctuation
• The ability to positively interact with all types of co-workers and patients in a professional and courteous manner
• 1-2 years of EMR experience. Preferably EMA or Modernizing Medicine
• Experience in a fast-paced multi-provider office
• Experience with transcription or functioning as a scribe in an exam room is preferred
• Experience with iPad functions
